Not surprised

April 23, 2008

Apparently The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz, a book I’ve tried to pimp to many to no avail, won the 2008 Pulitzer for fiction. Considering that I found it invigorating, humorous, compelling, transcendent, touching, life-affirming, and ultimately, considering that I have impeccable taste in books, this is not surprising at all. Maybe once a year I finish a book that carried its herculean weight across every single page; this is that book.

NYT review.

Read this book.
